After enduring days of intense heatwave conditions, residents of Chandigarh may finally experience some relief as the weather department has forecast rain and thunderstorms for three days starting from Tuesday, April 28. The change in weather is expected to bring down temperatures and ease the prevailing heat.
Current Weather Conditions
According to the latest weather bulletin, dry conditions prevailed over the past 24 hours, with temperatures remaining significantly above normal across the region. The maximum temperature was recorded around 40.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled near 20.8 degrees Celsius, reflecting continued hot days and relatively warm nights.
Forecast for the Coming Days
However, the forecast indicates a shift starting April 28, with partly cloudy skies accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and light rainfall over the next few days. The maximum temperature is expected to drop to around 39 degrees Celsius on April 28 and further decline to 36-37 degrees Celsius by April 30. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures are likely to hover between 21 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius.
Impact of the Weather Change
Meteorological officials say that this spell of rain and cloud cover will provide temporary respite from the ongoing heatwave conditions, which have seen temperatures rise more than 3 degrees Celsius above normal in Haryana. The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy with intermittent rain activity for three days, after which conditions may gradually stabilise again.
Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and lightning. The relief from heat is expected to be brief but significant for those affected by the prolonged heatwave.
