Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh BJP state president PVN Madhav and Union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu stated that the Bhogapuram international airport is being constructed using state-of-the-art technology. They emphasized that it will become a crucial hub for enhancing global connectivity for the northern Andhra region.
Project Scale and Investment
The airport is being built at an estimated cost ranging from Rs 4,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore, spanning a total project area of approximately 2,200 to 2,700 acres. After their visit to the site on Friday, both leaders affirmed that the development adheres to international standards.
Progress and Partnership Model
Rammohan Naidu noted that 99.3% of the work has been completed. The project is being executed in collaboration with leading companies under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Facilities and Amenities
The airport will feature modern terminal buildings, spacious runways, a cargo hub, a logistics centre, advanced security systems, ample parking and transport facilities, hotels, and commercial and business spaces.
Employment Opportunities
Madhav and Rammohan Naidu highlighted that thousands of youth will gain direct and indirect employment through this project. Employment opportunities will increase both during the construction phase and after completion.
Economic Impact
The Bhogapuram International Airport is expected to boost tourism, the IT sector, and industrial growth, contributing significantly to the economic development of the North Andhra districts.
