The Bengaluru traffic police have been placed on high alert as the city's central business district (CBD) is expected to receive more rainfall in the coming days. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Karthik Reddy confirmed that the force is fully mobilised to handle any disruptions caused by the inclement weather.
Precautionary Measures in Place
In a statement issued on Thursday, Reddy said that towing vehicles and wood cutters have been stationed at identified choke points across the CBD. These measures are aimed at quickly clearing any fallen trees or stranded vehicles that could lead to traffic snarls.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and have deployed additional personnel to key junctions. Our priority is to ensure minimal inconvenience to commuters,” Reddy added.
Weather Forecast
The India Meteorological Department has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in Bengaluru over the next 48 hours, with the CBD likely to be the most affected area. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid waterlogged stretches.
The traffic police have also urged citizens to report any weather-related emergencies through the dedicated helpline numbers. The force remains on standby to respond to any incidents promptly.
