Dibrugarh: The joint inter-state boundary delineation exercise along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border has achieved further progress with the successful completion of Stretch-II. This stretch covers the Telam area up to the Seren Agma river under New Seren Circle in the Lower Siang (Arunachal) - Dhemaji (Assam) sector.
The survey, which commenced on May 1, was carried out jointly by the district administrations of Assam and Arunachal. Participants included the border affairs departments of both states, land management teams, and representatives from the Survey of India.
Senior Officials Oversee the Exercise
The survey was conducted under the supervision of senior officials from both states. From the Assam side, Dasrath Deka, advisor to the Assam government's border affairs department, was present. From Arunachal, Ainstein Koyu, ADC Nari, along with other senior representatives, oversaw the proceedings. Officials from Arunachal included Miti Gongo and Janes Mary Tayeng, both assistant commissioners of Likabali; Tage Asha, circle officer of Nari; Pakmo Koyu, ZPC Lower Siang; and Mikir Koyu Doye, ZPM Seren. From the Assam side, Rajeeb Sonowal, ADC Dhemaji, participated along with other senior leaders.
Community Involvement Ensures Transparency
An official associated with the exercise stated, "The survey is being conducted in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding between both states. The presence of local community representatives including Gaonburas and Panchayat members ensures that the process remains grounded and transparent."
This marks another step forward in resolving the long-standing border issues between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, with both sides committed to a peaceful and collaborative approach.
