Prayagraj: Four persons were injured after the ambulance in which they were transporting the body of a family member from Delhi to Jharkhand rammed into a moving truck near Nanmai village on the Kanpur-Varanasi National Highway-2 in Kaushambi on Saturday morning, police said.
Accident Details
Police said family members were carrying the body of Ganesh Mandal (50) when the driver, Aakash (22) of Etawah, allegedly lost control over the vehicle and hit a truck from behind. The collision occurred on the busy highway, causing panic among locals.
Injuries and Rescue
The accident left Aakash, Lalita (38), Manjoo (32) and Harkoo injured. Upon being alerted, senior police officials and locals rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and took them to a nearby hospital. Police said three of the occupants, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged from Manjhanpur District Hospital after first aid, while one seriously injured person was admitted to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj. Two minor occupants of the ambulance escaped unhurt.
The incident highlights the risks faced by those transporting deceased relatives over long distances. Authorities have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
