At least 24 people sustained injuries when a private bus overturned in the Nurpur area of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district on Tuesday. The incident occurred near the Gagal village around 9:30 am, according to police reports.
Bus Was on Its Way from Gurdaspur to Dharamshala
The bus, bearing registration number PB-08-BU-2099, was traveling from Gurdaspur in Punjab to Dharamshala when the mishap took place. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve, leading to the bus overturning and landing on its side.
Rescue Operation and Medical Aid
Local residents rushed to the spot and helped rescue passengers trapped inside the bus. Police and emergency services arrived shortly after. The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital in Nurpur, where their condition is reported to be stable. Some passengers with minor injuries were discharged after first aid.
Among the injured, 12 are men, 8 are women, and 4 are children. The bus driver and conductor are also among those hospitalized. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about road safety in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh. Accidents due to sharp turns, overspeeding, and driver negligence are common. The state government has been urged to implement stricter safety measures on such routes.
