The Tricity continued to endure extreme heat as the heat wave showed no signs of relenting. On Saturday, the maximum temperature reached 41 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, matching Friday's high. The minimum temperature was recorded at 23.2 degrees Celsius, also two degrees above normal.
Dry Conditions Prevail
Weather across Haryana and Punjab remained dry, further intensifying the heatwave conditions. However, relief is on the horizon. The meteorological department has forecast a change in weather between April 28 and April 30, with partly cloudy skies accompanied by thunderstorms and light rain across the Tricity.
Temperature Outlook
Maximum temperatures are likely to remain steady at 41 degrees Celsius for the next two days, for which a yellow alert has been issued. Following that, temperatures may gradually fall to around 38 or 40 degrees Celsius due to the anticipated rainfall.
Rainfall Statistics
Seasonal rainfall from March 1 till date stands at 73.4 mm, which is 146% above normal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised residents to take precautions against heat exposure over the next few days, as hot weather conditions are expected to persist before a spell of rain brings some respite.
