Rajkot city recorded the highest maximum temperature in Gujarat at 42.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday, as the state braced for a heatwave-like weekend. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several cities across the state crossed the 40-degree mark. Amreli followed closely at 42.5 degrees Celsius, while Surendranagar recorded 42.1 degrees Celsius. Ahmedabad logged 41.5 degrees Celsius, Bhuj 41.2 degrees Celsius, and Vallabh Vidyanagar 40.1 degrees Celsius.
Temperature Rise Expected
The IMD has forecast a further rise in temperatures over the next two to three days, indicating a harsher spell of summer heat across the state. Residents are advised to take precautions against the scorching heat, especially during peak afternoon hours.
