Guwahati: In a significant push for agricultural education and research in the northeastern region, the newly established laboratories of agricultural sciences were officially inaugurated at Assam Royal Global University (RGU). The facility was inaugurated by SK Bhalla, Secretary of the North Eastern Council (NEC), under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). The ceremony was attended by Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice-Chancellor of RGU; Dr Bidyut Kumar Sarmah, Director of NECAB, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat; along with deans, faculty members, and other senior officials.
Collaboration for Progress
Speaking at the event, SK Bhalla emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the central government, state governments, and the private sector for the nation's progress. He commended Royal Global University for its commitment to nurturing talent and stated that the inauguration of these laboratories will facilitate hands-on training and research, enabling students to engage effectively at the grassroots level.
Advanced Training and Research Opportunities
Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain highlighted that the state-of-the-art laboratories have been designed to meet the requirements of students pursuing agricultural and allied sciences. He noted that the facility would offer advanced training capabilities, practical learning opportunities, and a strong foundation for research and skill development. The laboratories are established in accordance with the guidelines of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and will support the university's four-year undergraduate degree program in agricultural sciences.
This initiative is expected to significantly enhance agricultural education and research in the northeast, providing students with the necessary infrastructure to excel in the field.
