Patna: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in coordination with the local police, successfully dismantled an organized drug trafficking syndicate in Motihari, East Champaran district, on Sunday. The operation led to the arrest of two smugglers and the seizure of over Rs 70 lakh in cash, a currency counting machine, and approximately 400 kilograms of banned narcotics, specifically doda (poppy husk), from the accused.
Raids Conducted at Multiple Locations
The raids were carried out at several hideouts, including locations in Panitanki Chandmari and Janpul areas under the Town police station jurisdiction. Acting on a tip-off, the NCB targeted premises used by the syndicate to store and distribute the contraband.
Modus Operandi of the Syndicate
Investigations revealed that Pappu Prasad, a grocery trader from Miskot under the Town police station, was the mastermind behind the illegal trade. He allegedly operated under the cover of his grocery shop, using rented premises to store the narcotics instead of his home or shop, to avoid detection. The supply network was managed from these rented locations.
The NCB continues to investigate the case to identify other members of the syndicate and trace the source of the narcotics. The arrested individuals are being questioned, and further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
