Assam STF Nabs 4 Women, Seizes Heroin Worth Rs 7 Crore

The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police arrested a group of women allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking at Amingaon on Saturday. The operation led to the seizure of 837 grams of suspected heroin valued at approximately Rs 7 crore.

Operation Details

The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Kamrup district, Kalyan Kumar Pathak. He stated that the group was led by a narcotics courier identified as Demthang Haokip (36), a resident of Tuibong village in Manipur's Churachandpur district.

"We intercepted the group at Amingaon and arrested four women couriers. Upon search, the team recovered 62 soap boxes containing suspected heroin. The total weight of the seized contraband was 837 grams," the ASP said.

Arrested Individuals

The arrested persons have been identified as:

  • Lam Neikim (25), daughter of Meangminthang from Zouveng village
  • Hoineigah (24), daughter of Mangkhogin from Tuibong
  • Kim Neithen (36), daughter of Thang Goulul, a resident of Lanva
  • Ngah Pi (30), wife of Sesen Gangte from Lamka

All the accused belong to Churachandpur district in Manipur.

The STF continues its investigation to trace the larger network involved in the narcotics trade.
