A tragic incident occurred in Sundargarh district on Sunday, where a 26-year-old man from Deogarh district lost his life after drowning in the Brahmani River. The deceased has been identified as Asish Pradhan. The incident took place under the Bonai police limits.

Pradhan had been staying at his uncle's residence in Bonai for the past few days, accompanied by his brother. On that fateful Sunday, Pradhan, his brother, and their uncle's son decided to go for a bath in the Brahmani River. While bathing, Pradhan suddenly went missing in the water.

Police personnel, along with fire service officials, rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation. The body was recovered around 8 PM on Sunday evening.

Following the recovery, the body was placed in the morgue of Bonai Subdivisional Hospital until the arrival of the deceased's family members. The postmortem examination was conducted on Monday, after which the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers associated with bathing in rivers, especially during the monsoon season when water levels and currents can be unpredictable. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while venturing into water bodies.
