Chinese smartphone giant Oppo has officially announced the launch date for its much-anticipated Reno 15 series in the Indian market. The new lineup, consisting of the Oppo Reno 15 and the Oppo Reno 15 Pro, is scheduled to make its debut on January 6, 2026.
Camera Powerhouse: The Core of Reno 15 Series
Ahead of the official unveiling, Oppo has chosen to highlight the imaging capabilities that will define the new series. The company states that the Reno 15 series will merge powerful hardware with Oppo's proprietary PureTone Technology and intuitive AI features. Both models in the series will be equipped with a flagship-grade 200MP ultra-clear main camera. Oppo claims this sensor is specifically engineered to excel across a diverse array of travel photography situations.
This high-resolution primary camera will be supported by a 50MP 3.5x Telephoto portrait camera. Positioned near the classic 85mm portrait focal length, this lens promises true optical zoom. Oppo asserts it will deliver exceptional performance for both close-up portraits and distant subjects, maintaining sharpness and minimizing distortion.
Ultra-Wide and AI-Powered Portrait Tech
Completing the versatile camera setup is a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 100-degree field of view. This lens is designed to capture vast landscapes and architecture while ensuring consistent color, exposure, and detail across the frame. For selfies and group photos, Oppo is introducing its Golden ultra-wide portrait perspective. This technology aims to keep facial proportions looking natural even at standard shooting distances with wider angles.
A standout feature for group photography is the Ultra-Clear Group Photo function. It processes each face in a group shot individually, guaranteeing everyone remains in focus and evenly illuminated, even if people are standing at different distances from the camera.
Next-Generation AI Editing Suite
The Reno 15 series will be powered by the new AI Editor 3.0. A central component of this suite is AI Portrait Glow. This smart feature analyzes the shooting environment and automatically adjusts lighting to flatter the subject. Whether a photo is taken in dim light, with harsh backlight, or under uneven illumination, the phone can apply the most suitable lighting style—such as Natural Light, Flash Light, Rim Light, or Studio Light—based on simple user inputs.
Another innovative tool is the AI Motion Photo Slow-Mo. It transforms action shots into motion photos that can be cleaned up and refined after the moment has passed, allowing users to perfect their dynamic captures.
With this detailed pre-launch reveal, Oppo is building significant anticipation for the Reno 15 series in India. The focus on professional-grade camera hardware, coupled with intelligent software, positions these phones as strong contenders in the premium smartphone segment when they arrive in early 2026.
