Motorola Signature Series Arrives in India on January 23
Motorola confirms the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the Signature Series, in India on January 23. This launch represents a significant move for the Lenovo-owned brand, marking its first premium-segment smartphone introduction for the year 2026.
The company will offer the device in two distinct color options: Pantone Carbon and Pantone Martini Olive. Our early testing unit arrived in the Martini Olive shade, providing a firsthand look at this premium offering.
Distinctive Design and Robust Build
The Motorola Signature Series immediately stands out with its fabric-inspired finish. The Martini Olive color presents a raw yet refined golden-green appearance that catches the eye. Despite housing a substantial 5200mAh battery, the smartphone maintains impressive dimensions at just 6.99mm thickness and 186g weight.
Motorola constructed the frame using aircraft-grade aluminium while protecting the front with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. During our initial handling, the linen-inspired rear finish delivered a unique tactile experience that differentiates it from typical glass-back smartphones.
The device carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, capable of withstanding submersion in water up to 1.2 meters for thirty minutes. Additionally, it features MIL-STD-810H certification for enhanced durability against various environmental stresses.
Vibrant Display with Advanced Features
A 6.8-inch AMOLED display dominates the front, offering Super HD resolution at 2780 x 1264 pixels. The screen operates at a smooth 165Hz refresh rate and reaches peak brightness of 6200 nits for excellent visibility even in bright conditions.
Pantone Validated for color accuracy, the display supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content. With a 95.23% screen-to-body ratio, users enjoy an immersive viewing area that maximizes the available space.
During our brief testing, the display appeared exceptionally bright and responsive. LTPO technology enables an always-on display feature, while Water Touch functionality allows screen operation even with wet fingers.
Comprehensive Camera System
Motorola equipped the Signature Series with a triple-camera system led by a 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor. This primary camera incorporates Quad Pixel technology and optical image stabilization for sharper images.
The system includes a 50MP ultrawide camera offering a 122-degree field of view with macro capability, plus a 50MP periscope telephoto lens providing 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.
Our early photography tests showed the camera handling various lighting conditions effectively, producing detailed shots across different scenarios. We plan to conduct thorough evaluations of image quality, low-light performance, and video stabilization in our complete review.
Powerful Performance Hardware
At the heart of the device lies the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. Motorola implemented an ArcticMesh Cooling System featuring a copper-mesh liquid-metal cooling solution supported by a 6,002 mm² vapour chamber to manage heat effectively.
During initial gaming tests, we experienced no lag or stutter while playing BGMI at higher settings or switching between demanding applications like Facebook and Instagram. The smartphone ships with Android 16 and includes dual stereo speakers enhanced by Sound by Bose technology with Dolby Atmos support.
Substantial Battery with Fast Charging
The 5200mAh silicon-carbon battery supports 90W TurboPower wired charging, which Motorola claims can reach 50% charge in just fifteen minutes. The device also offers 50W wireless charging capability, along with 10W wireless reverse charging and 5W wired reverse charging options.
Early Impressions and Final Thoughts
The Motorola Signature Series clearly positions itself as a premium offering with distinctive design elements, flagship-level specifications, and a comprehensive camera system. Our early impressions suggest the phone delivers strong build quality, impressive display performance, and unique aesthetic choices like the Pantone Martini Olive finish.
While these initial observations are promising, we will reserve our final verdict for the comprehensive review that follows more extensive testing and evaluation of all features and performance aspects.
