MG Majestor SUV Spotted in Off-Road Tests

JSW MG Motor India is gearing up for a significant launch in the premium SUV segment, with the MG Majestor spotted undergoing rigorous off-road testing. The vehicle, first unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, is scheduled for a market debut in February 2026. This model represents a heavily refreshed and more premium iteration of the existing Gloster, though its future coexistence with the Gloster in the lineup remains unconfirmed.

Off-Road Prowess on Full Display

Recent spy images, shared by the HiFuel Kannada Instagram page, provide a compelling glimpse into the SUV's capabilities. The test mule was captured tackling a variety of challenging terrains, including navigating large rocks. These images clearly highlight the vehicle's suspension articulation, wheel travel, and impressive ground clearance, underscoring a strong engineering focus on off-road performance. In one striking shot, the SUV is perched atop a rock, offering a clear view of its underbody robustness.

The partially camouflaged test vehicle also sports prominent 'India's first D-Plus SUV' branding on its side, hinting at its intended positioning in a new, premium segment. Despite the camouflage, visible design elements appear consistent with the Expo showcase, suggesting the exterior design is largely finalized.

A Premium Design and Expected Features

The MG Majestor boasts a comprehensive inside-out overhaul. Its exterior commands presence with a large, imposing grille, sleek headlights on the bumper, and LED DRLs. The side profile is accentuated by 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear features new connected LED tail-lights and a sophisticated bumper design for a modern look.

While the interior remains under wraps, expectations are high. The cabin is likely to feature dual-tone upholstery, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a larger free-standing infotainment system. Premium amenities such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, automatic three-zone climate control, and powered, ventilated, and heated front seats are anticipated. For safety and assistance, the SUV is expected to come equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite.

Powertrain and Mechanical Speculations

Under the hood, the MG Majestor is expected to draw power from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The 4x2 variant is speculated to produce 163 hp and 375 Nm of torque. For enhanced performance, the 4x4 version might offer higher outputs of 218 hp and 480 Nm. True to its off-road testing demeanor, the SUV is anticipated to feature differential locks and dedicated switches for toggling between 2WD, 4WD, and a low-range 4WD mode, promising versatility across diverse driving conditions.

With its testing phase in full swing, the MG Majestor is shaping up to be a formidable contender in the premium SUV space, combining rugged capability with upmarket features ahead of its 2026 arrival.
