Hyundai Creta Electric Price Slashed to Rs 10.99 Lakh with Battery Subscription
Hyundai Creta Electric Now Starts at Rs 10.99 Lakh

Hyundai Motor India has introduced a battery subscription plan for the Creta Electric, effectively lowering its entry price to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The move is aimed at making the electric SUV more accessible to cost-conscious buyers by separating the battery cost from the vehicle price.

How the Battery Subscription Works

Under the new scheme, customers can purchase the Creta Electric without the battery and pay a monthly subscription fee based on usage. The subscription is priced at Rs 3.5 per kilometer, with a minimum commitment of 1,000 km per month. This translates to a monthly outlay of Rs 3,500 for the base usage.

Hyundai has partnered with a battery-as-a-service provider to manage the subscription. The plan includes free battery maintenance and replacement if the battery capacity drops below 70% during the subscription period. Customers can also opt for longer-term plans with lower per-km rates.

Price Comparison and Variants

The standard Creta Electric, with battery included, starts at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The battery subscription model thus reduces the upfront cost by Rs 7 lakh. The scheme is available across all variants: Executive, Smart, and Signature.

The Creta Electric is offered with two battery pack options: a 39.2 kWh unit with a claimed range of 332 km and a 51.4 kWh pack with 473 km range (ARAI certified). The subscription pricing is uniform across both battery sizes.

Impact on EV Adoption

Industry experts believe this could accelerate EV adoption in India, where high upfront cost remains a major barrier. According to a Hyundai spokesperson, “The battery subscription model addresses the two biggest concerns of EV buyers – initial cost and battery degradation. We expect this to attract more customers from the mass market segment.”

Hyundai has also announced a buyback guarantee of up to 60% of the vehicle price after three years, further reducing ownership risk.

Competitive Landscape

The Creta Electric competes with the MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV, and Mahindra XUV400. None of these currently offer a battery subscription plan, giving Hyundai a unique selling proposition. However, Tata Motors is reportedly exploring a similar model for its upcoming models.

The subscription plan is initially available in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, with plans to expand to 20 cities by end of 2026. Customers can subscribe through Hyundai’s online platform or authorized dealerships.
