AAI Installs Display Gallery at Trichy Airport on Prohibited Items

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has installed a display gallery at Trichy airport to educate passengers about prohibited items and prevent them from carrying such objects in hand baggage. With the airport handling a high volume of international passengers, many of whom are NRIs traveling to Gulf and Southeast Asian countries, officials noted that security screening has become increasingly challenging. Flyers often unknowingly carry restricted items, leading to confiscation and delays in the screening process.

Display Gallery Near Departure Area

To address this issue, AAI has set up a transparent gallery near the departure area. It features sample items such as knives, lighters, perfumes, masala powders, adhesive tapes, hardware tools, and other inflammable materials that are not permitted in cabin baggage. Passengers can view the display and read instructions in Tamil and English before reaching the security check, helping them avoid carrying prohibited items.

Benefits of the Initiative

This proactive measure aims to reduce the number of confiscated items and streamline the security process. By educating passengers beforehand, AAI hopes to enhance convenience and safety for all travelers. The gallery serves as a visual reminder of what is not allowed, making it easier for passengers to comply with regulations.
