Varanasi has taken a significant stride towards sustainable transportation with the launch of its first commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS). The facility was officially inaugurated by District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Monday, marking a pivotal moment in the city's push for eco-friendly mobility solutions.
A Strategic Launch for a Cleaner Future
The new charging station is strategically located at the GD Filling Station, an Indian Oil retail outlet in the Harsos area. During the inauguration ceremony, DM Satyendra Kumar underscored the critical importance of expanding such infrastructure. He stated that the establishment of more EV charging stations across the district is an urgent necessity for both public convenience and the broader goal of reducing environmental pollution.

Officials from Indian Oil highlighted that the newly inaugurated station is equipped with modern technology designed to charge vehicles in a shorter duration. Emphasising the government's commitment, the District Magistrate announced plans to focus on establishing more such stations in other parts of Varanasi in the coming times.
