Skoda Sets Fastest Multi-Car Relay Record in India and Asia

Skoda Auto India has achieved a remarkable milestone by entering both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. The company set the 'Fastest Multi-Car Relay of a Single Manufacturer on a Circuit' at the CoASTT track in Coimbatore. This accomplishment is part of Skoda's new 'G.O.A.T – Greatest On A Track' campaign, which aims to showcase the performance-oriented character of its vehicle lineup in India.

Record-Breaking Relay Details

The record was established using a fleet of five Skoda models, driven consecutively by five drivers in a single uninterrupted relay. The combined time recorded by the fleet was 12 minutes and 30.97 seconds, including pit-lane driver changeovers. This time makes it the fastest total relay time achieved by a single manufacturer on a circuit in the country.

The relay featured the following models: Kylaq 1.0 AT, Kushaq 1.5 DSG, Slavia 1.5 DSG, Kodiaq Selection L&K, and the Octavia RS. Each car completed laps around the 3.8-kilometer-long CoASTT circuit. The Octavia RS emerged as the quickest model of the group, posting a lap time of 2 minutes and 10.85 seconds.

Demonstrating Performance and Safety

According to Skoda Auto India, the relay format required every vehicle in the lineup to perform consistently under demanding conditions, including quick pit-lane changeovers. The company stated that the exercise was aimed at demonstrating the agility, braking capability, handling balance, and overall dynamic strengths of its vehicles. These attributes also contribute to better control and safety in everyday driving situations.
