IIT-Patna Launches Specialized Training Program on Electrical Safety for Vande Bharat Trainsets

A comprehensive two-week specialized training program focusing on the electrical safety of Vande Bharat trainsets and high-voltage systems officially commenced at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT-Patna) on Monday. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Foundation for Innovators in Science and Technology (FIST) at IIT-Patna and the Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE) located in Jamalpur.

Inauguration and Participants

The training program was formally inaugurated by Animesh Kumar Sinha, the Director General of IRIMEE, and Prog T N Singh, the Director of IIT-Patna. The program is being attended by 25 Indian Railways officials who represent various railway zones across the country, highlighting a nationwide effort to enhance technical expertise.

Focus on Modern Trainsets

According to Director General Animesh Kumar Sinha, the training is specifically designed to address the complexities of modern trainsets such as the Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat (Rapid Rail). These advanced trains are equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including:

  • Advanced propulsion and auxiliary systems
  • Computerized braking systems
  • Automatic door mechanisms

Sinha emphasized that participants will receive comprehensive exposure to high-voltage electrical systems, safety standards, and best practices related to their operation and maintenance. This hands-on training aims to equip officials with the necessary skills to handle these sophisticated systems effectively.

Objectives and Impact

The initiative is strategically aimed at strengthening the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of modern trainsets. By focusing on technological excellence and operational efficiency, the program reaffirms Indian Railways' unwavering commitment to passenger safety. This training is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring that the railway network can sustainably support the growing demand for high-speed and technologically advanced train services.

Overall, this specialized training at IIT-Patna marks a significant step forward in enhancing the technical capabilities of Indian Railways personnel, ultimately contributing to a safer and more efficient rail transportation system for the nation.
