IIT Kanpur Workshop on Semiconductor Digital Twin Tech

IIT Kanpur and Applied Materials India Collaborate on Semiconductor Innovation Workshop

The Advanced Centre for Materials Science (ACMS) at IIT Kanpur, in partnership with Applied Materials India, successfully organized a comprehensive hands-on workshop at the IIT Kanpur campus. This event focused on advancing semiconductor technology through practical learning and industry collaboration.

Showcasing Applied Twin: A Digital Twin Solution

During the workshop, Applied Materials India introduced its foundational software framework, Applied Twin. This innovative digital twin solution is specifically designed to model and optimize semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes. Guest speakers provided detailed explanations of various aspects of the software framework, highlighting its capabilities in enhancing efficiency and precision in semiconductor production.

Inauguration and Key Addresses

The workshop was officially inaugurated by Prof. Manindra Agrawal, the Director of IIT Kanpur, who emphasized the importance of such industry-academia partnerships in driving technological advancements. Prof. Anish Upadhyaya, Head of ACMS, underscored the value of "learning by doing", a core principle that aligns with the tradition of workshops on material characterization techniques regularly organized by ACMS.

Participant Engagement and Impact

The event attracted over 120 participants, including undergraduate and postgraduate students from IIT Kanpur, HBTU Kanpur, and other institutions. This diverse attendance fostered an environment of knowledge exchange and hands-on experience, reinforcing the workshop's goal of bridging theoretical concepts with practical applications in semiconductor manufacturing.
