CESC Launches 30 kV Fast EV Charging Unit in Mysuru to Boost Green Transport
CESC Inaugurates Fast EV Charging Unit in Mysuru

In a significant boost for electric mobility in Karnataka, the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has inaugurated a cutting-edge fast charging facility for electric vehicles at its Mysuru office. The move marks a concrete step towards fostering an eco-friendly transportation ecosystem in the historic city.

A Leap Towards Sustainable Mobility

The new charging unit, launched on Monday, features state-of-the-art 30 kV fast charging technology. This upgrade from the corporation's existing facility now allows two electric cars to be charged at the same time. With this rapid charging capability, an EV can be fully powered up in approximately 40 to 45 minutes, addressing a key concern for potential EV users regarding charging time.

Leadership Champions Green Vision

The service was officially inaugurated by CESC chairman and MLA, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, alongside the corporation's managing director, KM Munigopal Raju. Bandisiddegowda emphasized the growing adoption of electric vehicles and stated that CESC is actively encouraging this shift. He highlighted the triple benefits of this initiative: reducing air pollution, decreasing dependence on imported fuel, and promoting the use of indigenous green energy.

Technology and Future Public Access

The project was developed in collaboration with Zhiyan Electric. Users can access and operate the charging unit through the dedicated Zhiyan mobile application. Currently, the facility is being used internally for testing its efficiency, maintenance protocols, and overall user experience with CESC's own fleet of electric vehicles.

However, the corporation has indicated plans to expand access. Officials stated they are considering making the fast charging station available for public use in the future, which would significantly enhance EV infrastructure in the region.

Corporate Commitment on Display

The launch event saw the presence of several senior CESC officials, demonstrating the organization's collective commitment to this sustainable project. Attendees included technical director DJ Divakar, chief general manager (technical) Sharanamma S Jangin, chief financial officer G Renuka, and general managers NR Tasneem Tabassum, R Ramaswamy, and HR Dinesh, among other staff members.

This initiative by CESC positions Mysuru as a growing hub for electric vehicle adoption in Karnataka, aligning with broader national and state-level goals for renewable energy and clean transportation.
