Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prem Kumar conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Amas–Darbhanga Greenfield Expressway (NH-119D) on Saturday. He reviewed the project's progress alongside officials, emphasizing the importance of maintaining quality standards and expediting work.
Project Overview and Timeline
The expressway project commenced on March 31, 2023, with a stipulated completion period of 24 months. According to officials, this will be Bihar's first greenfield expressway, marking a significant milestone in the state's infrastructure development.
Route and Specifications
The four-lane access-controlled highway stretches from Amas in Gaya to Shivrampur in Darbhanga. Developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, it follows the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The total length of the project is approximately 190 kilometers.
Financial and Land Acquisition Status
The project was awarded to a private construction firm at an estimated cost of Rs 1,157.5 crore on May 20, 2022. So far, physical possession of 50.549 kilometers of land has been secured out of the total 55.002 kilometers required. Officials are addressing issues related to the acquisition of the remaining 4.453 kilometers. Financial progress has reached around 44.51%.
Expected Benefits
Prem Kumar stated that the expressway would enhance connectivity across Bihar, boosting trade, industry, and agriculture while easing travel for the public. During the inspection, project officials, engineers, and local representatives were present.
