Army Flags Off EV Expedition in Kasauli for Green Tech

The Indian Army's Golden Key Division (Surya Command), in collaboration with Tata Motors, flagged off the 'Surya Green-Himalayan Odyssey' from Kasauli. Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Command, officially started the expedition, which aims to promote clean mobility and indigenous green technology.

Expedition Details

The 11-day journey covers 1,663 kilometers through some of the most challenging terrains in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. The fleet consists of 10 Tata electric vehicles: six Harriers, three Curvvs, and one Punch EV. The expedition will traverse remote border areas, including Umling La (19,024 feet) and Chang La (17,590 feet), before concluding at the Hall of Fame in Leh on June 22.

Team and Leadership

The expedition team is led by Major Aman Singh Yadav and includes 17 members comprising Army personnel, Tata EV experts, and digital content creators. The team will test the endurance of electric vehicles in extreme conditions while engaging with local communities to promote conservation efforts.

Honoring Heroes and Protecting the Environment

During the journey, the team will pay homage to fallen soldiers at the Rezang La War Memorial. The initiative underscores the Army's commitment to innovation and protecting the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. By showcasing the capabilities of electric vehicles in high-altitude and harsh environments, the expedition aims to inspire wider adoption of green technology.
