Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 release date
Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 update is all set to be released on June 12, 2026, worldwide. It is expected to release at 6 AM ET and will end up introducing a variety of new content to the title.
New hero Cyclops
Cyclops is going to join the roster of Marvel Rivals as a Duelist in Season 8.5, and his kit is set to be built on his iconic Concussive Optic Blast. He will be able to shoot optic beams in burst fire mode when using primary fire, or he will fire all at once with alt fire. Speaking of his mobility ability, you will be able to use the same to glide back into cover. His remaining abilities allow him to shoot beams that bounce between characters. Finally, his ultimate results in Cyclops removing his visor and unleashing the optic blast.
New 18v18 Game Mode and Map
Another major highlight of Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 would be the introduction of a new game mode and map. Essentially, NetEase Games is introducing Bounty Annihilation, a new 18v18 game mode, alongside a dedicated map called K'un-Lun Shenloong Arena. All of this will go live on June 12, 2026.
Cyclops x Wolverine Team-Up: Blast Slash
A new team-up called Blast Slash is arriving as part of Season 8.5, and Cyclops is partnering with Wolverine. As part of the same, Cyclops supercharges Wolverine's adamantium claws with his optic blast, allowing Wolverine to deal extra damage with his melee attack and unlocking a new ability called Kinetic Claws. Using the same, Logan can spin like a tornado with his claws out.
The Rivals' Summer Festival
Following the release of Marvel Rivals Season 8.5, The Rivals' Summer Festival kicks off on June 18, 2026. You can complete challenges to earn up to 2,500 Units for free, and spend them to get special swimsuit skins for characters like Emma Frost, Doctor Strange, Cloak and Dagger, Spider-Man, and more. A new beach-themed social hub called Hellfire Bay Beach is also being added alongside the event.
616 Day Vault and Path to Doomsday Update
The 616 Vault is also returning for a limited time from June 12 to June 26, making all limited-time costumes from July to September 2025 available once again. On the other hand, the Path to Doomsday Phase 2 and Phase 3 events have been postponed. Accordingly, Avengers: Age of Ultron will now arrive in late July, and Avengers: Infinity War in mid-October.
