Borderlands 4 DLC Bounty Pack 2 Launches February 26

Borderlands 4's Bounty Pack 2 DLC Set for February 26 Launch with Major Content Updates

Gearbox Software has officially announced the release date for Borderlands 4's first premium downloadable content (DLC). Titled Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon, this expansion is scheduled to drop on February 26, bringing a fresh wave of content to the popular looter-shooter franchise.

What's Included in Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon?

The developer describes this DLC as "all-new bite-sized yet flavourful narrative content". Players can look forward to a brand-new mission that promises to expand the game's lore, alongside a cache of legendary loot to collect during their adventures.

Additionally, the pack features a specially themed Vault Card. This card includes 24 unique cosmetics and four "rerollable pieces of gear unlocked through gameplay", offering enhanced customization and gameplay variety.

While Gearbox has been coy about specific story details, promising more revelations "closer to the launch", the DLC's title hints at a demonic-themed narrative that will likely tie into the broader Borderlands universe.

Major Game Update: Introduction of Pearlescent Gear Rarity

Launching alongside Bounty Pack 2 is a significant game update that introduces a new rarity tier called Pearlescent gear. According to Gearbox, this tier boasts "power levels superior to even Legendary gear", making it the most powerful equipment category in the game to date.

Importantly, this new rarity will be accessible to all Borderlands 4 players, regardless of which edition of the game they own. However, Gearbox has noted that some exclusive pieces of Pearlescent gear will be reserved for those who purchase the Bounty Pack 2 DLC, adding incentive for dedicated fans.

Upcoming Story Pack and New Playable Character Revealed

Looking further ahead, Gearbox has also unveiled plans for the first Story Pack for Borderlands 4. Entitled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, this substantial content drop is slated for release next month.

This Story Pack will introduce multiple main and side missions set in a new zone within the planet Kairos. Players can expect new gear, cosmetics, and a narrative that centers on the "return of the indomitable fan-favourite Ellie".

The story adopts a cosmic horror theme with a bloodier, darker tone, marking a stylistic shift for the series. It will also debut the game's first new playable Vault Hunter: C4SH, a former casino dealer bot with unique abilities and backstory.

Switch 2 Version Currently on Pause

In related news, publisher Take-Two Interactive recently announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 is now on "pause". This follows a last-minute delay that occurred just a week before its planned October 3, 2025, release date.

The Switch 2 version was initially revealed during Nintendo's April 2025 Direct presentation. Pre-orders have been cancelled, though Gearbox has framed this development as a delay rather than a complete cancellation of the project, suggesting a potential future release.

This pause indicates ongoing optimization or development adjustments for the portable platform, aligning with Gearbox's commitment to delivering a polished experience across all supported devices.
