Xiaomi Unveils Second Generation SU7 Electric Sedan with Major Upgrades
Xiaomi has officially launched the second generation of its SU7 electric sedan, marking a significant evolution in its automotive lineup. The updated model introduces three distinct trims: Standard, Pro, and Max, each offering enhanced hardware, a redesigned interior, and the debut of the company's new Smart Chassis 2.0 and XLA assisted driving architecture. This release underscores Xiaomi's commitment to innovation in the competitive electric vehicle market.
Pricing and Model Structure
The new generation maintains a three-tier pricing structure, making it accessible to a range of consumers. The Standard trim is priced at RMB 219,900 (approximately Rs 29,85,000), the Pro trim at RMB 249,900 (approximately Rs 33,92,000), and the flagship Max trim at RMB 303,900 (approximately Rs 41,25,000). Additionally, Xiaomi has expanded the color palette to nine options, introducing new finishes such as "Coastal Blue," "Blazing Red," and "Viridian Green," adding aesthetic appeal and personalization choices for buyers.
Exterior and Interior Enhancements
While retaining its original dimensions of 5 meters in length and 2 meters in width with a 3-meter wheelbase, the SU7 second generation features several aesthetic and functional upgrades. A redesigned air intake grille includes an enlarged C-shaped surround and wider brake-cooling ducts, with the vehicle's 4D millimeter-wave radar now integrated directly into the grille for improved aerodynamics and sensor performance. Three new wheel designs, including 21-inch forged rims, complement the exterior updates.
Inside, the cabin has been fully overhauled with soft-touch finishes on nearly all high-frequency contact surfaces. Key interior improvements include:
- Seating: Front seats now come standard with ventilation and heating. The driver's seat offers 18-way power adjustment, while the passenger side features an optional 123-degree "zero-gravity" recline mode for enhanced comfort.
- Lighting: A 3,636 mm wraparound ambient lighting system encircles the cockpit, providing triple-layer direct and indirect illumination for a premium feel.
- Quietness: Acoustic laminated glass is standard on all four doors, with the Max trim including an "Ultra-Quiet Cabin" package that uses high-density soundproofing to reduce noise by over 4dB.
- Amenities: An upgraded drawer-style refrigerator with an independent compressor offers faster cooling and three operating modes, adding convenience for long drives.
An electric front trunk with a 105-liter capacity is now standard across all models, supporting eight opening methods, including voice and proximity control, enhancing practicality and user experience.
Performance and Range Specifications
The entire SU7 lineup is equipped with the Xiaomi HyperEngine V6s Plus motor, capable of 22,000 rpm, delivering impressive performance. The flagship Max trim accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.08 seconds and achieves a top speed of 265 km/h. Battery performance has seen notable increases across the trims:
- Standard: 720 km range (CLTC)
- Pro: 902 km range (CLTC)
- Max: 835 km range (CLTC)
The vehicles support ultra-fast charging, capable of adding 670 km of range in 15 minutes, with a peak charging rate of 5.2C, reducing downtime and improving usability for daily commutes and long-distance travel.
Advanced Technology and Chassis Systems
The new Smart Chassis 2.0 utilizes a double-wishbone front and five-link independent rear suspension, featuring a closed dual-chamber air spring system and continuous damper control (CDC) that automatically adjusts to road conditions for a smoother ride. On the technology front, Xiaomi introduced a "Four-in-One Domain Control Module" powered by two 4nm chips: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for cabin functions and the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor for driving assistance, ensuring cutting-edge connectivity and autonomous capabilities.
