Tata Punch Facelift Launched with Major Updates
Tata Motors has officially introduced the new Tata Punch facelift micro-SUV in the Indian market. This marks the first significant update since the model's initial launch in 2021. The refreshed vehicle boasts a redesigned exterior, a revamped interior, additional features, and notably, a new engine option. Interested buyers can now book the updated Punch either online or by visiting their nearest Tata Motors dealerships.
Powertrain Comparison: Punch Turbo vs Fronx Turbo
The 2026 Tata Punch facelift now offers a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. This engine is exclusively paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the Punch retains its 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 88 PS and 115 Nm of torque. In its CNG configuration, this engine generates 73 PS and 103 Nm of torque and is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx turbo is powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine that outputs 100 bhp of power and 143 Nm of torque. Transmission options for the Fronx include a 5-speed manual or an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic. The Fronx also offers a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 90 bhp and 113 Nm of torque, available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed AMT.
Dimensions and Physical Specifications
When comparing dimensions, the Tata Punch facelift measures 3876 mm in length, 1742 mm in width, and 1615 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2445 mm. It features a ground clearance of 193 mm, comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, and offers a boot space of 366 litres (reduced to 210 litres for the CNG variant).
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, on the other hand, has dimensions of 3995 mm in length, 1765 mm in width, and 1550 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2520 mm. Its ground clearance is rated at 190 mm, it also sports 16-inch alloy wheels, and provides a boot space of 308 litres (210 litres for the CNG version).
Interior Features and Safety Equipment
Inside the Maruti Fronx, the cabin features a burgundy and black theme. Key features include automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, an Arkamys-tuned sound system, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, an auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging, a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, and up to six airbags. Safety systems comprise ABS with EBD and ESP with hill-hold assist.
The Tata Punch facelift's interior is highlighted by a free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated elements. Below the screen are touch-based air-conditioning controls with toggles for adjusting fan speed and temperature. Additional features include a digital instrument cluster, a single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, a premium sound system, cruise control, and push-button start/stop. On the safety front, the 2026 Punch is equipped with six airbags, ESC, ABS, TPMS, a 360-degree camera, reverse parking sensors, and more.
Variant Options and Pricing Details
The new Tata Punch is available in eight variants: Smart, Pure, Pure Plus, Pure Plus S, Adventure, Adventure S, Accomplished, and Accomplished Plus S. Customers can opt for a single-pane sunroof on the Pure+ and Adventure variants at an additional cost of Rs 35,000. Pricing for the updated Punch starts at Rs 5.59 lakh, which represents a marginal increase of Rs 10,000 compared to the original 2021 entry price of Rs 5.49 lakh. Notably, the fully loaded naturally aspirated petrol variant is now priced lower than before, while the newly introduced turbo-petrol option costs just Rs 40,000 more and includes additional features.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is offered in five trims: Sigma, Delta, Delta Plus, Zeta, and Alpha. Prices for the Fronx range from Rs 6.85 lakh to Rs 11.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
