Skoda Slavia Facelift Spotted Testing in India Ahead of Launch
Following the recent launch of the Skoda Kushaq facelift, priced from Rs 10.79 lakh (ex-showroom), Skoda India is now gearing up to introduce the updated Skoda Slavia sedan. The Slavia, which debuted in 2021, is set to receive its first mid-cycle refresh, and it has been spotted undergoing tests on Indian roads, heavily camouflaged to conceal most design details.
Key Feature Updates and Design Changes
The testing prototype reveals a significant update with dynamic turn signals, replacing the current model's halogen indicators with LED units. These updated combination lamps, positioned in the lower outer section, feature a sweeping inside-to-out animation, similar to those found on premium sedans. While the overall silhouette is expected to remain largely unchanged, the facelift is anticipated to bring extensively revised front and rear styling.
At the front, the Slavia facelift is likely to showcase a redesigned fascia with sharper headlamps, a revised grille incorporating a connected light strip—mirroring the Kushaq facelift—and a new bumper design. Along the sides, the sedan could sport newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear section may include a reworked boot lid, slimmer tail-lamp housing, and other subtle enhancements to refresh its appearance.
Interior and Mechanical Specifications
Inside, changes are expected to be minimal, primarily focusing on updated upholstery. However, the feature list is set to expand, with the addition of a fully digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and various other upgrades to enhance comfort and technology. Mechanically, the Slavia facelift will retain the same engine options as the current model.
Notably, similar to the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda may introduce a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, replacing the earlier 6-speed unit. This update aims to improve driving dynamics and fuel efficiency. The sedan will also continue to offer a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, ensuring a range of powertrain choices for buyers.
