Chinese tech giant Oppo has officially confirmed the imminent arrival of its latest tablet, the Oppo Pad 5, in the Indian market. The device, which debuted in China in October this year, has been teased on a dedicated Flipkart microsite, confirming its India availability and revealing several key specifications ahead of the official launch.
Launch Details and Expected Debut
The launch microsite lists the Oppo Pad 5 alongside the upcoming Reno 15 smartphone, strongly suggesting a dual-launch event in early December. While Oppo has been sharing teasers for the camera-centric Reno 15 for several days, an exact launch date for either device remains under wraps. The listing confirms that Indian consumers will soon get their hands on Oppo's flagship tablet offering.
Oppo Pad 5: Design and Display Highlights
Teaser images reveal that the Oppo Pad 5 will sport a sleek design with uniform bezels and a single rear camera. The tablet is expected to launch in two colour options: Black and Pink. The centrepiece is its large 12.1-inch 3K LCD display with a sharp resolution of 3000 x 2120 pixels. The screen boasts a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate, capable of scaling between 30Hz and 144Hz for optimal performance and battery life, and delivers a peak brightness of 900 nits. Remarkably, the tablet maintains a slim profile at just 5.99mm thickness and weighs 579 grams.
Power-Packed Performance and Battery
Under the hood, the Oppo Pad 5 is a performance beast. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor, coupled with the Immortalis-G925 GPU for graphics. It will be offered with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The tablet will run the latest Android 16 operating system with Oppo's ColorOS 16 skin on top.
Keeping the lights on is a massive 10,165mAh battery (teased as 10,050 mAh) with support for Oppo's 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. For photography and video calls, it features an 8MP camera on both the front and back. Connectivity options are top-tier, including Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port. A notable feature is 5G sharing, allowing seamless data sharing between the tablet and compatible Oppo smartphones.
Expected Price in India and Market Context
The Oppo Pad 5 was launched in China at a starting price of 2,599 yuan (approximately ₹32,000), with the top-end variant priced at 3,599 yuan (roughly ₹44,500). However, industry observers note that the Indian pricing is likely to be slightly higher. This anticipated price hike is attributed to factors like the ongoing global memory chip shortage, which has impacted the cost of recent smartphones and tablets.
Its arrival will intensify competition in India's premium tablet segment, where it will rival offerings from OnePlus, Apple, and Lenovo. The revealed specifications position the Oppo Pad 5 as a formidable contender for users seeking a high-performance Android tablet for productivity and entertainment.
