Nissan Tekton SUV Spotted Testing in India, Reveals Key Design and Specifications
Following the recent launch of the Nissan Gravite MPV, Nissan India is gearing up to introduce its next model, the Nissan Tekton SUV. Ahead of its official debut, the SUV has been spied undergoing road tests near Pimpri, close to Pune, offering a glimpse into its exterior design and potential features.
Spy Images Unveil Exterior Profile and Design Elements
The latest spy images captured the test vehicle's side and rear profiles, showcasing a robust road stance. The vehicle appears to be a base variant, equipped with steel wheels and lacking features like a sunroof or rear wiper. Notable design elements include squared wheel arches, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and a curved roofline that enhances its aerodynamic appeal.
At the rear, the Tekton sports a roof-mounted spoiler, a raked windscreen, C-shaped connected tail lamps, and a large bumper for added protection. The front design remains hidden in these images, but expectations point to top-mounted LED daytime running lamps, a full-width LED light bar, LED headlamps, a rectangular grille with two chrome bars flanking the Nissan logo, and bumper corner protectors. A sculpted bonnet and prominent TEKTON badging further accentuate its bold character.
Dimensions and Platform Shared with Renault Duster
The Nissan Tekton will be positioned in the competitive 4.2-meter to 4.5-meter SUV segment and is based on the same platform as the Renault Duster. Dimensionally, it is expected to mirror the Duster, which measures 4,345 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,703 mm in height, and boasts a wheelbase of 2,657 mm, ensuring ample interior space and stability on the road.
Expected Engine Options and Performance
Engine options for the Tekton are anticipated to be shared with the new Duster, offering a range of powertrains to suit diverse preferences. These include:
- A 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivering 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
- A 1.3-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual transmission.
- A larger 1.8-liter strong hybrid petrol engine combined with a 49 hp electric motor and a 20 hp hybrid starter generator (HSG), supported by a 1.4 kWh (280V) battery. This configuration yields a combined system output of 160 hp and 172 Nm, promising enhanced fuel efficiency and performance.
Feature-Rich Interior and Advanced Technology
The Tekton is expected to come loaded with modern amenities, making it a compelling choice in its segment. Key features likely include:
- A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
- A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for a futuristic driving experience.
- A panoramic sunroof to enhance cabin ambiance.
- A wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, and a powered tailgate for convenience.
- 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, 48-colour ambient lighting, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.
- Multi-drive modes to adapt to various driving conditions.
As Nissan expands its portfolio in India, the Tekton SUV aims to capture attention with its blend of style, performance, and technology, positioning itself as a strong contender in the growing SUV market.
