KTM has injected a fresh dose of technology into its popular 160 Duke range in India with the launch of a new, feature-rich variant. Priced at ₹1.79 lakh (ex-showroom), this updated model brings a significant upgrade to the instrument cluster, making it a more compelling proposition for tech-savvy riders.
What's New: The TFT Display Revolution
The headline update is the introduction of a 5.0-inch full-colour TFT display, which directly replaces the LCD unit found on the standard version. This premium display is sourced from the larger KTM 390 Duke, effectively trickling down higher-segment technology to the 160cc offering. The addition of this screen comes at a premium of approximately ₹9,000 over the base model.
The new bonded-glass TFT display is paired with revamped switchgear that includes a four-way menu selector. This allows riders to effortlessly navigate through the bike's various functions and settings. The real game-changer is the integration of Bluetooth connectivity via the KTM My Ride app, which enables turn-by-turn navigation prompts right on the console.
Enhanced Connectivity and Riding Modes
Beyond navigation, the smart TFT display significantly boosts connectivity. It provides incoming call alerts and allows the rider to answer or reject calls using the handlebar-mounted switches. When paired with a Bluetooth-enabled helmet headset, riders can also control music playback, with track information displayed on the screen.
On the performance front, the display unlocks access to KTM's Supermoto ABS mode. This feature allows the rider to disengage the rear ABS for specific riding scenarios, offering more control. Furthermore, the interface is highly customisable; riders can personalise it by setting shift RPM and limit RPM alerts, which triggers a switch between dark and orange-themed layouts. The display's shortcuts and overall layout can also be tailored to individual preference.
Unchanged Performance: The Familiar Powerhouse
Mechanically, the updated KTM 160 Duke remains identical to its predecessor. It continues to be powered by the same 164.9cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, coupled with a six-speed transmission. This proven powertrain delivers a peak output of 18.73 bhp of power and 15.5 Nm of torque, ensuring the bike retains its spirited and agile streetfighter character.
