Mahindra & Mahindra has officially launched the XUV 7XO in the Indian market, marking one of the most eagerly awaited car unveilings in recent times. This new model is essentially a comprehensive revamp and rebadging of the automaker's popular flagship, the XUV700 SUV. The launch introduces a refreshed design, updated features, and a wide range of choices for consumers.
Mahindra XUV 7XO: Variants and Pricing Details
The new Mahindra XUV 7XO is offered in a total of six variants, named from AX to the top-spec AX7 L. The SUV comes with multiple powertrain and seating layout options, allowing buyers to customize their purchase.
The entry point to the lineup is the AX variant, priced between ₹13.66 lakh and ₹14.96 lakh (ex-showroom). This base model is available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol manual or a 2.2-litre diesel manual engine, and it comes exclusively as a seven-seater.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, the flagship AX7 L variant carries a price tag ranging from ₹23.45 lakh to ₹24.92 lakh (ex-showroom). This top model offers petrol automatic, diesel manual, and diesel automatic powertrains. The most expensive variant is the diesel automatic with All-Wheel Drive (AWD), priced at ₹24.92 lakh. The AX7 L can be configured as either a six-seater or a seven-seater.
Exterior Design and Colour Options
At first glance, the base AX and top AX7 L variants share core styling elements. Both feature the signature dual-pod LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, and the new chrome slats on the radiator grille.
Key differences become apparent on closer inspection. The AX variant rides on 17-inch steel wheels with covers, while the AX7 L boasts larger 19-inch alloy wheels. The base model also misses out on fog lamps and sequential turn indicators.
The colour palette also differentiates the trims. The AX is available in Everest White, Stealth Black, Galaxy Grey, and Nebula Blue. The AX7 L adds exclusive shades like Ruby Velvet and Desert Myst to the options list. Furthermore, buyers of the top trim can opt for a dual-tone finish by choosing a Stealth Black roof with certain colours.
Interior & Feature Comparison: AX vs AX7 L
Inside the cabin, both variants present a premium feel, anchored by the signature triple-screen display. However, the themes differ: the AX has a black interior theme, while the AX7 L features a more luxurious beige and tan scheme.
The seating and upholstery see a significant upgrade. The AX gets fabric seats and is only a seven-seater. The AX7 L offers a choice between six and seven seats and comes with leatherette upholstery. The steering wheel in the AX is carried over from the XUV700, whereas the AX7 L gets a new dual-spoke, dual-tone steering wheel.
Comfort and convenience features see a major leap in the top variant. The AX has manual air conditioning with physical controls, while the AX7 L features dual-zone climate control operated via a touchscreen. The base model lacks a panoramic sunroof and rear window sunshades.
Seat adjustments are manual (6-way) for the driver in the AX. The AX7 L offers power-adjustable seats for both the driver and co-driver, along with the powered 'Boss mode' for the second row. Exclusive features in the top variant include:
- Front and rear ventilated seats
- BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) mounts for second-row occupants
- Dual wireless phone chargers
- Multi-colour ambient lighting
- A premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
While both variants are equipped with a robust set of standard safety features, the AX7 L pulls ahead with advanced technology. It includes an extra knee airbag, a 540-degree surround camera system, adaptive cruise control, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.
A crucial differentiator is the inclusion of a comprehensive Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) in the top variant, which are not available on the base AX model.
The launch of the Mahindra XUV 7XO significantly refreshes the brand's flagship SUV offering, providing a sharper design, more feature-packed variants, and a broader price range to compete fiercely in the premium SUV segment in India.
