In a significant move for the business computing market, HP has launched its next-generation EliteBook X G2 Series, a premium lineup of laptops engineered specifically for the demands of artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced workflows. The announcement was made ahead of the CES 2026 trade show, where the devices have already been recognized as Innovation Award Honourees.
A Unified Platform with Unprecedented Choice
For the first time in its history, HP is offering a single laptop series where customers can select from processors by AMD, Intel, or Qualcomm. This strategic move is designed to cater directly to the varied performance, battery life, and connectivity needs of modern professionals. The series includes multiple configurations under this unified platform, providing unparalleled flexibility.
The specific models are clearly delineated by their processor architecture: the EliteBook X G2a is powered by AMD Ryzen AI processors, the EliteBook X G2i runs on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, and the EliteBook X G2q utilizes the Snapdragon X2 Elite platform from Qualcomm. HP highlights that the Qualcomm variant delivers up to an impressive 85 TOPS of NPU (Neural Processing Unit) performance, underscoring the AI-centric design of the entire series.
Built for the Pressures of the Modern Workplace
The launch is a direct response to the growing pressures documented in HP's own research. According to the latest HP Work Relationship Index, nearly two-thirds of desk-based workers report higher expectations than a year ago. However, only one in five maintains a healthy relationship with work. Professionals are demanding devices that offer faster performance and longer battery life as AI tools become integral to daily tasks.
"Workers are being asked to do more, manage new tools, more data, and now AI without additional time," explained Guayente Sanmartin, Senior Vice-President and Division President of Commercial Systems & Displays Solutions at HP. "The EliteBook X G2 Series is built to reduce that burden with technology that adapts to individual workstyles and supports AI-driven workflows."
Security, Serviceability, and Sustainability
Beyond raw AI power, HP has fortified the new EliteBooks with enterprise-grade security features. HP Wolf Security for Business provides hardware-enforced, quantum-resistant protection that remains active even when the device is offline. From a maintenance perspective, a new top-mount design aims to drastically reduce keyboard replacement time, easing the burden on IT departments.
Portability is another cornerstone, with some models weighing less than one kilogram while still offering features like high-resolution OLED displays and all-day battery life. HP is also emphasizing its environmental commitment, noting that the EliteBook X G2 Series has achieved EPEAT Gold registration for its sustainable design.
Adding to the versatility of the lineup, HP also introduced the EliteBook X Flip G2i, a convertible device that can function as a laptop, tablet, tent, or stand. The entire series is scheduled to become available in phases through early spring via HP.com, with specific pricing to be announced closer to the launch date.
