BMW M2 CS Makes Grand Entry into Indian Market with Premium Price Tag
BMW India has officially launched the highly anticipated BMW M2 CS in the Indian automotive market, setting an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.66 crore before optional extras. This performance-focused variant arrives as a completely built unit (CBU) with strictly limited allocation for Indian customers, making it an exclusive offering in the luxury sports car segment.
Performance Specifications and Engineering Excellence
The BMW M2 CS represents a significant upgrade over the standard M2 model, which retails at Rs 1.02 crore ex-showroom. The CS version commands a substantial premium of Rs 64 lakh, justified by its enhanced performance capabilities and track-oriented engineering. At its heart lies a meticulously tuned 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 530 horsepower and 650 Newton-meters of torque.
This powerplant features revised internal components and stiffer engine mounts compared to the standard M2, resulting in a substantial increase of 50 horsepower and 50 Newton-meters. The engine is exclusively paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that channels power to the rear wheels, with no manual transmission option available for this model.
Acceleration, Speed and Track Performance
BMW claims the M2 CS can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.8 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 302 kilometers per hour. The vehicle has demonstrated its track capabilities with an official Nürburgring lap time of 7 minutes and 25.5 seconds, showcasing its credentials as a serious performance machine designed for both road and circuit use.
Design Distinctions and Aerodynamic Enhancements
Visually, the M2 CS distinguishes itself from the standard model through several subtle yet effective design modifications. The front fascia features a revised grille optimized for improved airflow, complemented by a new front splitter that enhances aerodynamic efficiency. The vehicle rides on distinctive staggered forged alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear, finished in eye-catching gold.
These wheels come standard with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S high-performance tires, with optional track-focused tires available at no additional cost. The rear design is particularly striking, featuring an integrated ducktail spoiler, an enlarged diffuser, and matte black quad exhaust tips that complete the aggressive aesthetic.
Color Options and Interior Refinements
Prospective buyers can choose from four exclusive color options: Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Velvet Blue. Inside the cabin, the M2 CS receives premium treatment with carbon-fiber bucket seats featuring leather upholstery in signature M colors, complemented by extensive carbon-fiber trim throughout the interior.
The standard interior is finished in luxurious black Merino leather, while additional features include an Alcantara-wrapped M steering wheel, a premium 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and comprehensive parking assistance technology.
Availability and Booking Information
BMW India has confirmed that only a limited number of M2 CS units will be available for the Indian market, with deliveries expected to commence shortly. Interested customers can secure their vehicle through online booking platforms or by visiting their nearest authorized BMW dealership. This limited availability strategy positions the M2 CS as an exclusive offering for automotive enthusiasts seeking the ultimate in performance and driving dynamics within BMW's entry-level M car lineup.
