Apple's Biggest MacBook Pro Overhaul in Years
Apple is gearing up for its most significant MacBook Pro redesign since 2021, according to a new report from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. The tech giant is preparing to introduce OLED displays with touch functionality and a slimmer, lighter design for its professional laptop lineup.
What to Expect from the New MacBook Pro
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman revealed that these next-generation MacBook Pro models are expected to debut between late 2026 and early 2027. The overhaul will mark the first major design change since the 2021 models and will be reserved for the higher-end M6 Pro and M6 Max variants.
The most exciting upgrade comes in the form of an all-new OLED display that supports touch input, a first for Apple's MacBook Pro series. This premium feature will remain exclusive to the M6 Pro and M6 Max models, while entry-level MacBook Pro versions will continue with the existing miniLED display technology.
Design and Connectivity Enhancements
Beyond the display improvements, Apple is planning several other significant changes:
- Thinner and lighter chassis for enhanced portability
- Replacement of the current display notch with a Dynamic Island-style cutout
- Potential integration of built-in 5G connectivity for the first time
- Major performance gains from the new M6 Pro and M6 Max chips
The move to a Dynamic Island design would bring the MacBook Pro's visual language in line with recent iPhone models, offering both aesthetic refinement and new functionality.
Current MacBook Pro Lineup in India
For Indian consumers, Apple currently offers three MacBook Pro configurations. The entry-level 14-inch model with the M5 chip starts at ₹1,69,900 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. Models equipped with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips begin at ₹1,99,900, featuring enhanced performance and dual-fan cooling systems compared to the single-fan setup in the M5 version.
While all current models share a similar external design, the upcoming OLED-equipped MacBook Pro models with M6 chips are expected to set a new visual and functional standard for Apple's professional laptops, potentially commanding premium pricing when they arrive in the Indian market.
