Apple Axes Over 20 Products in 2025: iPhone SE, Plus Models, More
Apple discontinues 20+ products in 2025, ends Home Button era

In a significant refresh of its product portfolio, Apple has officially discontinued more than twenty of its devices and accessories in 2025, according to a detailed report. This sweeping change sees the tech giant phasing out older models to make way for its latest innovations, with many products being replaced by newer, faster versions.

The End of an Era for iPhone

The most notable shift comes in Apple's smartphone lineup. The company has discontinued the entire iPhone Plus series, saying goodbye to both the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 15 Plus. In a move that signals a complete design overhaul, the affordable iPhone SE (3rd generation) has also been phased out, succeeded by the new iPhone 16e.

This strategic decision carries historical weight. With these discontinuations, Apple no longer sells any iPhone model featuring a Home button, Touch ID, an LCD screen, a screen size below 6 inches, or the legacy Lightning port. The era that defined iPhones for over a decade has conclusively ended.

Flagship models have also received their expected annual refresh. The iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro have been succeeded by the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro, respectively. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 models have also been removed from the active lineup.

Updates Across Mac, iPad, and Wearables

The product refresh extends far beyond the iPhone. Apple's computer and tablet lines have received substantial chip upgrades. The 14-inch MacBook Pro has been updated from the M4 chip to the more powerful M5 chip. Similarly, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models have jumped from the M3 chip to the M4 chip.

The iPad portfolio saw similar updates. The iPad Pro with the M4 chip has been updated to a model with the M5 chip, while the iPad Air with the M2 chip now comes with the M3 chip. The entry-level iPad 10 has been updated with a newer A16 chip.

In the wearables category, the Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch SE 2 have been succeeded by the Apple Watch Ultra 3, Series 11, and SE 3, respectively. The audio segment saw the AirPods Pro 2 replaced by the AirPods Pro 3.

Accessories and Power Adapters Get an Upgrade

Even accessories and chargers were part of this major cleanup. Apple replaced its MagSafe Charger with Qi 2 support with an all-new version featuring Qi 2.2 support. The 30W USB-C Power Adapter has been succeeded by a more versatile 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with a 60W Max output.

Other discontinued accessories include the Lightning to 3.5mm Audio Cable, now replaced by a USB-C version, and the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter. The high-end Apple Vision Pro also received an internal boost, updating from the M2 chip to the M5 chip.
