The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has taken a significant step towards modernising its operations by initiating the complete digitalisation of all temples and offices under its administration. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the board and the Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd (KSITIL) to facilitate this ambitious project.
MoU Signing Ceremony
The agreement was formalised during a function held at the devaswom board headquarters. Devaswom commissioner B Sunilkumar signed the MoU on behalf of the board, while director Rahul K Raj represented KSITIL. The event was attended by TDB president K Jayakumar, board members K Raju and P D Santhosh Kumar, along with devaswom board secretary P N Ganeshwaran Potty.
Scope of Digitalisation
The digitalisation project encompasses a wide range of areas, including temple administration, file movement, financial transactions, and various services for devotees. Additionally, multiple online services related to the Sabarimala temple will be integrated into the system. Authorities have confirmed that the first module, focusing on online services at Sabarimala, will be implemented before the upcoming Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season.
Officials stated that the move is aimed at improving the speed, efficiency, and transparency of services provided to devotees through TDB. By leveraging technology, the board expects to streamline operations and enhance the overall experience for pilgrims and visitors.
This initiative marks a major milestone in the digital transformation of temple management in Kerala, setting a precedent for other religious institutions to follow.
