Jal Sarthi App Enhances Transparency in UP's Jal Jeevan Mission
Jal Sarthi App Boosts Transparency in UP Jal Jeevan Mission

The Uttar Pradesh state government announced on Tuesday that the 'Jal Sarthi' mobile app is playing a crucial role in making the Jal Jeevan Mission more digital and transparent. This mission aims to provide clean drinking water to every rural household. The digital initiative, led by Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Rural and the State Water and Sanitation Mission, offers villagers direct and easy access to updates about water schemes at multiple levels.

Key Features of the Jal Sarthi App

Prabhas Kumar, Special Secretary and Executive Director of the State Water and Sanitation Department (SWSD), Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, stated, "Through the Jal Sarthi app, every person can check live updates of all projects. A multi-level dashboard provides information about work being carried out from the state level down to the village level with a single click." He emphasized that all 40,000 drinking water projects, both small and large, are being linked online through the app, ensuring their live status remains accessible to everyone.

Multi-Level Dashboard and Geo-Tagging

The app features separate dashboards for each administrative level, from the state down to individual villages. As soon as work related to water tanks, pipelines, or household tap connections is completed in any village or location, the information is updated on the app. These updates are linked through geo-tagging, allowing any citizen to check the live status of schemes running in any village. This enables the department to monitor everything from the water source to the taps installed in every household.

Progress and Road Construction Data

According to data available on the app, approximately 2 lakh kilometers of roads across the state had to be dug up for laying pipelines as part of the mission. Of this, construction work on more than 1.94 lakh kilometers of roads has already been completed. This level of detail helps in tracking progress and ensuring accountability.

Verification of Women Representatives

Villagers can also use the app to verify the women selected for responsibilities related to water management in their area. This feature promotes transparency and community involvement in the mission.

The Jal Sarthi app represents a significant step toward digitizing rural water supply management, making information accessible to all and enhancing the efficiency of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Uttar Pradesh.
