Patna: Information technology has evolved far beyond being merely a tool of convenience and has now become a critical pillar for good governance, economic growth, employment generation and social transformation, minister Nitish Mishra said on Monday after formally assuming charge of the information technology department.
Department secretary Abhay Kumar Singh welcomed and congratulated the minister with a bouquet on the occasion.
Focus on Technological Advancements
Highlighting the need to keep pace with rapid global technological advancements, Nitish assured that the department would launch effective and visionary initiatives to strengthen IT and digital infrastructure across the state. He particularly praised the state government’s progressive policies, including the Bihar IT Policy 2024 and the Bihar GCC Policy 2026, saying the measures were actively encouraging investment and promoting the growth of technology industries in Bihar.
Empowering Youth with Skills
“Bihar is blessed with talented, energetic and innovative youth. Our aim is to equip them with modern technical skills so they can secure high-quality employment and entrepreneurial opportunities right here in their home state,” Nitish said.
The minister said the department was consistently working towards building a new identity for Bihar in the field of information technology and digital innovation. He highlighted several flagship initiatives, including BSWAN, SecLAN, the AI Mission and the establishment of digital libraries in every assembly constituency, as examples of the government’s strong commitment to technological progress and digital empowerment.
Vision for Bihar’s IT Future
Expressing confidence about the future, Nitish said Bihar would emerge as one of the leading states in the country in technological innovation, digital services and IT investment in the coming years.
