Car Catches Fire at Nagpur's Laxmi Nagar Square

A car caught fire at Laxmi Nagar Square in Nagpur on Friday, creating panic among commuters before fire brigade personnel managed to bring the blaze under control. The incident occurred around the traffic signal, causing a temporary disruption in the area.

The car owner, Anand Mehram, recounted the harrowing experience to TOI. He stated that his vehicle had halted at the traffic signal. When the signal turned green, he attempted to restart the car and engage first gear, but the engine kept shutting down. On the third attempt, a passerby alerted him that smoke was emanating from the vehicle. Mehram immediately stepped out of the car, moments before it caught fire.

Firefighters rushed to the spot and swiftly doused the flames, preventing further damage to nearby vehicles and property. No injuries were reported in the incident, although the estimated losses are over Rs 2 lakh. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and authorities are investigating the matter.
