Patna: Two power distribution companies in Bihar—North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (SBPDCL)—are transitioning to a new billing software to offer consumers enhanced, secure, and advanced digital services. This technical upgrade will result in a temporary suspension of all online electricity services from 7 pm on May 20 to 8 am on May 22.
The discoms have assured that electricity supply will remain uninterrupted during this period. Even if smart meter consumers are unable to recharge, power supply will continue normally, an official stated.
Services that will be unavailable during the migration window include electricity bill payments, smart prepaid meter recharges, new connection applications, load and name changes, bill corrections, and other online facilities. NBPDCL and SBPDCL have urged all consumers to complete pending bill payments and smart prepaid recharges before the scheduled downtime to avoid any inconvenience.
Important Details for Consumers
Consumers are advised to plan ahead and settle their dues prior to the suspension. The upgrade aims to provide a more reliable and user-friendly digital platform for future transactions. The discoms emphasize that the migration is a routine technical enhancement and will not affect physical services or power supply.
