Anand Bullet Train Station to Embody 'Milk City' Identity in Architectural Design
Officials from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) announced on Monday that the upcoming bullet train station in Anand, a key component of India's ambitious high-speed rail corridor, is being meticulously designed to reflect the city's renowned identity as the 'Milk City of India'. This innovative approach aims to seamlessly integrate local cultural heritage with cutting-edge modern infrastructure, creating a landmark that honors Anand's status as the nation's milk capital.
Design Inspired by Milk Droplets for Cultural Integration
According to NHSRCL officials, the station's façade and interior elements draw direct inspiration from the fluid forms, shapes, and colors of milk droplets. This thematic design serves as a tribute to Anand's pivotal role in India's dairy industry, ensuring that the station not only functions as a transport hub but also celebrates the region's unique identity. The architectural vision focuses on blending aesthetic appeal with practical functionality, setting a new standard for infrastructure projects across the country.
Structural Specifications and Passenger Amenities
The station will stand at an impressive height of 25.6 metres and cover a built-up area of 44,073 square metres. It is structured across three levels, featuring two side platforms and four tracks in between to facilitate efficient train operations. To enhance passenger experience, the station will be equipped with a comprehensive range of modern amenities, including:
- Ticketing and waiting areas for convenience
- Restrooms and a nursery for family needs
- Information booths and retail spaces for services
- Skylights on the roof and exterior to maximize natural light
Accessibility and Multimodal Connectivity Plans
Ensuring smooth access for all travelers, dedicated zones for pick-up and drop-off are being developed, along with extensive parking facilities for cars, two-wheelers, rickshaws, and buses. A pedestrian plaza is also in the planning stages to promote walkability and community interaction. In terms of connectivity, the station site is strategically located:
- Approximately 600 metres east of Uttarsanda railway station
- Around 10 kilometres away from Nadiad Junction, a major rail hub
Officials emphasized that the station is being developed as a multimodal transport hub, designed to enable faster and seamless connectivity across various transport modes, thereby improving overall travel efficiency in the region.
Construction Progress and Current Status
Significant advancements have been made on the construction front, with key milestones already achieved. As per an official statement, the following tasks have been completed:
- Slab casting across all three levels of the station
- Structural steel work for the roof and installation of roof sheeting
- External façade steel structure put in place
- Installation of lifts and escalators for vertical mobility
Currently, cladding work and staircase finishing are actively underway, indicating steady progress toward the station's completion. This development underscores India's commitment to advancing its high-speed rail network while respecting local cultural narratives.
