Dehradun: Uttarakhand's state cyber crime unit has successfully prevented over Rs 10 crore from being transferred to cyber fraudsters in the first four months of 2026, as announced by SSP (cyber crime unit) Ajai Singh on Saturday.
Helpline Success
The amount was safeguarded while acting on complaints received via the 1930 helpline. In one notable case from the last 10 days, a complainant lost Rs 47 lakh in an online investment scam. Police managed to freeze Rs 3.7 lakh, but the remainder had already been moved to the perpetrators' accounts, Singh explained.
Another Case
In a separate recent incident, authorities froze Rs 1.1 lakh of the Rs 1.6 lakh lost in a cyber fraud. Singh emphasized, "We urge people to report cyber crimes on the 1930 helpline immediately after falling victim. The sooner the complaint is filed, the greater the likelihood of recovering the money."
The cyber crime unit continues to work diligently to combat online fraud and protect citizens' finances.
