Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state has become the first in the country to incorporate the 'Track Me' feature into the 112 India app, a move aimed at bolstering security measures. The feature is designed to assist women and the elderly by allowing them to share their real-time location with authorities in case of emergencies.
Enhanced Security Through Technology
Saha highlighted that the integration of advanced technology within the policing framework has significantly contributed to crime prevention in the state. He stated, 'The nature and dynamics of crime across the country are evolving constantly. We aim to ensure that our police are well-prepared for these changes, while also keeping citizens informed about the safety measures in place. The administration is proactively reaching out to the community.'
Community Outreach and Preparedness
The chief minister emphasized the importance of community engagement in maintaining law and order. He noted that the new feature would empower vulnerable groups, particularly women and the elderly, by providing them with a direct line to emergency services. The 'Track Me' feature is expected to reduce response times and enhance the effectiveness of police interventions.
Tripura's initiative sets a precedent for other states to follow, showcasing how digital tools can be leveraged to improve public safety. The state government plans to conduct awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the app's functionalities and encourage its widespread adoption.
