MDSU Ajmer Bans Petrol and Diesel Vehicles on Campus

Ajmer: Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU), Ajmer, has banned the use of petrol and diesel vehicles inside its campus, allowing only electric and battery-operated vehicles. The decision was announced on Monday by the university administration.

Reason Behind the Ban

The university campus spreads across more than 310 hectares, with departments located far from the main building. The administration stated that students, teachers, employees, and visitors coming for administrative work can either use e-rickshaws available on campus, their own battery-operated vehicles, or walk to their destinations.

Vice-Chancellor's Statement

Vice-chancellor Prof Suresh Kumar Agarwal said, "This decision will help protect the campus environment as well as reduce fuel consumption. Looking at the fuel crisis, it is everyone's duty to help reduce fuel use." He added that the decision has also been communicated to the governor and chancellor of the university.

Implementation and Enforcement

According to the administration, e-rickshaws are already operating at various points across the campus for the convenience of students and staff. Agarwal said administrative officials and university security personnel have been directed to strictly enforce this order.

This move is expected to significantly cut down on emissions and promote sustainable transportation within the university premises.
