A joint team of Sachendi Police and the cybercrime cell, west zone, in Kanpur has apprehended eight individuals involved in organized cybercrime. The accused allegedly extorted money by posing as police officers and accusing victims of watching pornographic content.
Scope of the Operation
The accused targeted victims across 14 districts, with complaints registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) from Neemuch, Ajmer, Bareilly, Moradabad, Firozabad, Siddharthnagar, Bijnor, Kanpur Nagar, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, and Dehradun, among others.
Action Taken
Police initiated action under a campaign directed by the police commissioner, based on complaints received on the Pratibimb portal and NCRP. A case was registered against the accused at Sachendi police station under case No. 204/2026, sections 318(4)/111(2)/2 BNS and section 66D of the IT Act.
Arrested Accused
The arrested individuals were identified as Gorelal alias Suraj, Ram Ji alias Anand, Sandeep Singh, Awadhesh Singh, Abhishek Savita, Ramprakash, Abhishek Singh, and Rinku. Police confirmed that all accused were residents of Sachendi and surrounding areas.
Seized Items
Police seized five mobile phones, two cheque books, two passbooks, and two debit cards from their possession.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, West, SM Kasim Abidi disclosed the case. The team that dismantled the cyber gang was honored by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, West with a cash reward of Rs 25,000.
