Cyber Cell Arrests Man for Duping Job Seekers in Varanasi

The cyber crime cell in Varanasi on Wednesday night arrested a 37-year-old man for duping job seekers by collecting their personal data and information from social media platforms. The accused, identified as Nitesh Saroj, originally a resident of Pindra in Varanasi, was living in Mumbai from where he conducted his illegal activities.

Arrest and Investigation

According to ACP (Cyber Crime) Vidhush Saxena, the police received inputs regarding the presence of the accused in the Shivpur area, following which he was apprehended. During interrogation, Saroj confessed that he used to collect data of job seekers from social media platforms and contact them with false promises of employment in multinational companies (MNCs). Once a job seeker fell into his trap, the accused would extract money from them and subsequently block their phone numbers.

Modus Operandi

The accused targeted individuals actively seeking employment, leveraging their desperation to secure jobs. By posing as a recruiter for MNCs, he gained the trust of victims and extracted payments under various pretexts. After receiving the money, he would cut off all communication, leaving the victims defrauded.
