Ahmedabad Nurse Alleges Fake Social Media Accounts to Defame Her

A 21-year-old nurse from Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, has filed a police complaint alleging that an unknown individual created multiple fake social media accounts using her photographs and posted misleading content in an apparent attempt to defame her.

Details of the Complaint

According to the complaint lodged with Navrangpura police on Monday, the complainant works at a hospital in Navrangpura and also takes up freelance anchoring jobs. She stated that she maintains a social media account for her professional work.

The harassment reportedly began on February 21, when a comment was repeatedly posted on one of her motivational reels from an account named “king1041700.” She mentioned in the complaint that after deleting the comment several times, she eventually disabled the comment section on that post.

Derogatory Messages and Account Creation

The complainant further stated that a derogatory message was allegedly sent from the same account. When she asked the sender about their identity, the person began using abusive language. After she threatened legal action, the abuser deactivated the account.

Between February 22 and 24, several Instagram accounts were created using her name and photographs. The First Information Report (FIR) states that these fake profiles carried her pictures and, in some cases, displayed a young man’s photograph in the stories with the caption “My Love.” One particular profile even posted derogatory comments alongside her image.

Ongoing Harassment and Legal Action

The complainant also alleged that one of the fake accounts remains active. She stated that the repeated creation and deactivation of fake accounts suggests a sustained effort to malign her on social media. The FIR notes that she had already submitted a complaint on the cybercrime portal prior to filing the police report.

Police have registered the complaint and initiated legal proceedings. An investigation is underway to identify the perpetrator behind the fake accounts.

This incident highlights the growing concern over cyber harassment and identity theft on social media platforms. Authorities urge victims to report such incidents promptly to cybercrime portals and local police stations.
