Vineet Nayyar at DNPA Conclave 2026: AI to Transform Publishing and IT
Vineet Nayyar: AI to Reshape Publishing and IT Industries

Vineet Nayyar Urges Publishing and IT Sectors to Embrace AI at DNPA Conclave 2026

At the prestigious DNPA Conclave 2026, Vineet Nayyar, founder of the Sampark Foundation, delivered a compelling address on the transformative power of artificial intelligence, business models, and the future of the publishing industry. He strongly advised stakeholders to proactively adapt to technological advancements rather than resist them, highlighting the critical need for innovation in today's digital landscape.

AI Platforms and Subscription Models: A Critical Perspective

Speaking about AI platforms and their underlying commercial interests, Nayyar offered a candid assessment. He stated, "Anybody who comes with an AI model is interested in subscription. The truth of the matter is that when India-Pak matches were played you could see ChatGPT and Google ads. Their primary interest is subscription. Therefore, I would take whatever they say with a grain of salt." This remark underscores the importance of scrutinizing AI-driven business strategies, particularly as subscription-based models become increasingly prevalent in the tech ecosystem.

Disruption in Indian IT: Challenges and Opportunities

Nayyar highlighted the significant scale of disruption facing the Indian IT sector, predicting that 50% of current IT activities will be handled by AI tools. However, he balanced this with an optimistic outlook, noting that this shift is poised to expand opportunities. He explained that corporate technology spending is expected to surge by 8% to 14%, depending on the industry. "The challenge in front of Indian IT is that are you part of an evolving solution where demand is high or are you trapped in the past," he questioned, urging companies to align with evolving market demands to stay competitive.

Publishing Industry: Shifting Mindset from Challenge to Opportunity

Addressing the publishing sector specifically, Nayyar emphasized a fundamental shift in mindset. He asserted, "Publishing industry should look at technology as an opportunity and not as a challenge. Now the question is - how to look at this technology? You must understand that this technology is automating tasks, not jobs. And there is a difference between automatic tasks and jobs. The task which you were doing earlier - editing, writing, some of that will be more efficiently done by (AI) agents you have trained on expressing your way of opinion." He encouraged professionals to move up the value chain, leveraging AI to enhance efficiency and focus on higher-level creative and strategic roles.

Conclusion: Thriving in the New Digital Economy

Nayyar's insights at the conclave conveyed a clear and powerful message: while AI is set to radically transform workflows across industries, those who adapt, innovate, and ascend the value chain will be best positioned to thrive. By embracing technological shifts, both the publishing and IT sectors can unlock new growth avenues and maintain relevance in an increasingly automated world. His call to action serves as a crucial reminder for businesses to future-proof their strategies in the face of rapid digital evolution.
